Welcome to the Rotary Club of Corral de Tierra
The Rotary Club of Corral de Tierra comprises of a group of people who are dedicated to community service and who believe in service over self in the spirit of Rotary. We enjoy each other’s company and have fun together. We are situated in a community sandwiched between Salinas to the east and Monterey to the west. The Nobel Prize winning author John Steinbeck made the Corral de Tierra community famous by basing his book Pastures of Heaven on this community. As a Rotary club, the members come from various backgrounds but are all like-minded, to do good for humanity and leave this world better than we have been given.
We are involved in many community activities including but not limited to International Projects in Nepal, Tanzania, India, etc; Bell Ringing for Salvation Army, supporting the High school Jazz Education Foundation, Dorothy’s Kitchen, Food Bank, Sea Otter Classic, Girls Inc., etc. Our international projects encompass issues like clean water, literacy, health services, and more.
We are a part of Rotary International which has a total membership of about 1.4 million in almost every country and territory in the world! One of our signature projects is to rid the world of polio. Since this project’s inception in the mid ‘80s, the number of annual new polio cases has dropped from over 300,000 to about 30! We are almost done.
